I don't like the sound of the word, it ends rather abruptly and has quite a harsh sound to me when I say it. I could see it working on either gender - nn Ant for a boy, nn Annie or Emmy for a girl. Personally, I'm not keen, but then I'm not a massive fan of most word names anyway. It does feel quite patriotic due to the national anthem being where I hear the word most.

Honestly, it doesn't read at all like a name to me. I just think of a rock anthem, the national anthem, and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield....

It may make a quirky middle name but I don't think Anthem works as a first name. I think there are better names with a patriot flair (Liberty, Justice). Anselm is a similar sounding boys name.
    All the best,

Hmmm, I was just thinking about Anthem the other day, actually. I like it, and I think would work much better on a boy (reminiscent of Adam, Ingram, the above-mentioned Anselm, or Ephraim).

But then again, I really like word names! An Anthem is a song of praise or joy, which is a lovely meaning for your child, i think.

And no, I don't think it feels patriotic.
Baby boy due October 2014! Current tentative name:
