    Opinions Please

    Hi Berries,

One of my current name crushes is Evie, my question is, is it strong enough to stand on it's own as a first name or should it be a nickname for a longer name?

    Thanks!

My son has an Evie in his class, her full name is Evian. I actually hate Evian but think Evelyn is a more appropriate name. Evie is a nickname.

I think it should be a nickname. It can even be a nickname for something short, like Eve or Eva- I just think Evie is too childish sounding on its own. Some suggestions:
    Eve
    Eva
    Evelyn
    Genevieve
    Eveline
    Evelina
    Evangeline
    Evadne
    Neva
    Geneva

I know there are plenty of Evies out there with no formal first name, but I'm a big believer in putting a formal first name on a birth certificate and using a nickname if you wish. There are some beautiful names that could use Evie as a nickname. Several have been mentioned above, but my personal favourites are Eva, Evangeline and Evelyn. I agree with Daisy, Evie is quite a childish name and mightn't sound very grown up on an adult.

I'd prefer a more formal name for when she decides to get a job. I like Evelyn
