How would I react? I'd probably have a hard time not laughing out loud.

I don't know which would be worse:

    1. a scrawny boy named dragon
    2. a chunky boy named dragon
    3. a mean boy named dragon
    4. a nice boy named dragon

all are bad, though. I'd feel terrible for him.

Also, not sure which would be worse for him:

    1. teasing
    2. problems with government/jobs/companies not believing that's truly his name
    3. waiting until he was old enough to be able to change it
    4. looking his parents in the eye once he realizes what his name really means and how people react to it.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Dragon! BUT for a GIRL only. It's been on my list for ages. I first fell in love since Mrs. Frisby and Rats of NIMH.

    LOL.

As far as teasing goes, I can see it, but kids get teased about lots of things. There's only so much you can do, only so many things you can do to prevent it -- picking a low-key name over an awesome name just to avoid teasing is fine, but not worth it in my opinion.

As much as names are important, I think there's too many assumptions attached to them. If I met a kid named Dragon, or an adult named Dragon, I'd smile and compliment him on having such an awesome name. And I'd vote for him, or hire him, or respect him, because names really have nothing to do with those things.
I'm not feeling incredibly profound at the moment. Check back later.

Hmm I wouldn't know what to say lol. Draco is my guilty pleasure and a much better option, though it may be too HP. Seconding Drake.

I remember watching a documentary back in 2005ish, called Rize. One of the dancers in the documentary was called Dragon. So that's immediately what the name made me think of. In the right context, the name didn't strike me as that odd....but they were mostly going by made-up nicknames: Miss Prissy & Tight Eyez were some of the others.
