I'd probably ask where his parents got the name...if he was named for a specific reason or they just thought it sounded cool.
It's VERY unusual, and I can imagine it'd come with quite a bit of teasing (especially for certain children), but I've also heard much worse.Lillian Elizabeth 6.16.13

It's a guilty pleasure for me. Great meaning, cool sound... With the nickname Drag and teasing possibilities. I much prefer the Japanese Ryuu (which would sound a lot like Liu to the average American), which is also the word for dragon that is used as a name.
Draven also has a similar sound.
