Just finished watching Into the Wild (GREAT movie! and book...) and the main character's actor's name is Emile.

    1. How do you pronounce this?
    2. What do you think?
I’m just trying to behave as I think a friend should behave. Granted, I haven’t had much practice.

I'm not aware of Emile, but I quite like the name Emil. Though Emiliano would definitely be my favorite of this style of name.

I once had an online buddy by that name. He pronounced it, e-MEAL/e-MILL. It was the first time I had heard of that name, I don't think I had a Oh, Wow! Cool name type reaction. But I do think it is a bit refreshing.

Just to add, I think the first time I saw his name, I thought it was pronounced, Emily. So maybe you can take that thought into consideration.

    I think it's pronounce like Ee-meal or Ee-mill but I'm not sure. I think it's ok but I wouldn't use it.

In french it is pronounced ay-MEEL. It isn't that uncommon where I live. I like it, but it definitely would work better in a french speaking community.
