I just came across the name Mabry and it has piqued my curiosity. Would you pronounce it MAY-bree or MABB-ree? And would you spell it Mabry, Mabrie, Mabrey, or Mabree? Anyone know anything about it? Thoughts on it?

I pronounce it MAY-bree, and Mabrey is my favourite spelling. It sounds rather made-up, but I still like it. It reminds me of Aubrey and Audrey.

I agree, but I actually found it on records from the early 1940s, and I don't know if people really made up names much back then...?

The first thing that came to mind was that it sounded like "Maybe" but I think it could make a solid name. It looks getable to me.

I actually know a couple who's last name is Mabry, so it probably came from the practice of using a mother's maiden name as a first name.

It's a nice sound, but I agree that it sounds too much like Maybe for me to really like it. But I guess if you're an Arrested Development fan that could be a positive.
