Names Banned in New Zealand
Officials in New Zealand have released a list of bizarre baby names put forward by parents. Here is a list of some that were rejected by authorities. Parents cannot give names that designate rank like King or Princess either. Judging by the rejected name list, I'm thinking that some parents don't take naming a child very seriously. So Berries, what are you thoughts on these "names"? Do you think that every country should have a "forbidden baby name list" or would that be too much government control for your comfort level?
Justice/Justus/Juztice (the name rejected most often)
Mafia No Fear
'.', as in 'full stop'

I definitely don't think the government should have any kind of say in what people name their children. I may not like Mafia No Fear or "." but the government shouldn't have any input. Especially when it comes to Princess, Queen, etc. I would hope the people who want to use names like Mafia No Fear or Anal would have friends or family that would stop those people from using those names.“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.”

I'm all for minimal government but I'd be okay with the government denying some people of their names choices.** The opinions expressed above are not meant to be reflective of Nameberry as a whole but are my opinion and mine alone. **
Henry Nathaniel (3) and Julia Paige (1)

I think the government should be allowed to ban any name that's either a curse word, or has obscure punctuation or a number in it, but aside from that I definitely think they should have no say in the matter. Though, of course, that would allow names like Anal to slip through the cracks. Perhaps if they deemed a name particularly cruel but not in violation of above rules, they could grant the child legal permission to change his/her own name at any age they chose? Not sure if that would work, but I definitely think the government should have as little say in it as possible.
I'm shocked that Justice and variants are rejected, is there a reason for that? I'm also quite shocked that Lucifer is banned also.g e n e v i e v e
