    Names Banned in New Zealand

Officials in New Zealand have released a list of bizarre baby names put forward by parents. Here is a list of some that were rejected by authorities. Parents cannot give names that designate rank like King or Princess either. Judging by the rejected name list, I'm thinking that some parents don't take naming a child very seriously. So Berries, what are you thoughts on these "names"? Do you think that every country should have a "forbidden baby name list" or would that be too much government control for your comfort level?

    Queen Victoria
Justice/Justus/Juztice (the name rejected most often)
    Mafia No Fear

    All the best,

I definitely don't think the government should have any kind of say in what people name their children. I may not like Mafia No Fear or "." but the government shouldn't have any input. Especially when it comes to Princess, Queen, etc. I would hope the people who want to use names like Mafia No Fear or Anal would have friends or family that would stop those people from using those names.

I'm all for minimal government but I'd be okay with the government denying some people of their names choices.

I think the government should be allowed to ban any name that's either a curse word, or has obscure punctuation or a number in it, but aside from that I definitely think they should have no say in the matter. Though, of course, that would allow names like Anal to slip through the cracks. Perhaps if they deemed a name particularly cruel but not in violation of above rules, they could grant the child legal permission to change his/her own name at any age they chose? Not sure if that would work, but I definitely think the government should have as little say in it as possible.

I'm shocked that Justice and variants are rejected, is there a reason for that? I'm also quite shocked that Lucifer is banned also.

I'm all for a government ban on ridiculous names! Although, I've heard of children named Lucifer and taught a child named Justis (in Australia). Some people are morons and need to be told the name they wish to call their child is ridiculous!
