repeating names in the same family

I would love to use the name Luke but it's my dh's younger brother's name. DH thinks it would be odd to use his name especially since they would have the same last name. DH knows how important names are to me and would give on the issue if I told him I really want to use it. But, should I push him on it? (4 of my 5 kids don't have family names but my one daughter is named after my mother and dh's grandmother.) His younger brother did give one of his son's his name as a middle name. Dh is on great terms with his brother, but we don't live near his family so only see them 3 or so times a year.

Perhaps a variation like Lucas, Luca, or even Logan would fix the issue.

Those don't really appeal to me, but along those lines I have thought of using Lucy for a girl.

I think if it was a distant cousin, it would be different. But being that it is his brother, having the same name may be a little issue. I guess it all depends on what your family thinks. I personally wouldn't use it, but if you truly love it, I guess you just have to decide if you love it that much or not? I think using a name similar would work better.
If I had a baby right now, I'd name it,
    Scarlett Amelia or Emerson Joseph.
I also like Cashel, Gabriel, Genevieve, & Juliette. + So much more.
    I'm Ashley btw, and I'm 20!

I personally wouldn't do it unless I was intentionally honoring that person. If you just love the name but aren't trying to honor him, then I would find another name.
Ttc a baby brother or sister for Luther Wolf!
