The Brits like it but a lot of people call their dads and grandfathers Poppy. The sexual connotation comes from women calling their boyfriend/ hubby, Papi
I just find it cutesy and childish but cutesy names are popular overseas
Fox * Rohan * Jade * Shea * Eden * Blaise * Greer
Lotus * Noor * Tallulah * Jasper * Linden * Arden

I love Poppy. I think it's cute and a refreshing change in the states from all the Violets, Lilys, and Roses we have. The only problem I could see with the name is I don't imagine it would age well.“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.”

Yes, the papi connection as kind of a sexy nickname for a Hispanic man is sort of problematic, and it also bugs me a little, the grandfather connection...but my real issue here is the phrase "popping her cherry" as a reference for a girl losing her virginity.
