My go-to would be am-uh-RAN-thuh, 'am' as in 'ham', 'ran' as in 'he ran away'.

Great! Thanks again everybody!
pet peeves: nicknames as given names; unconventional spellings; masculine names on girls
not-so-guilty pleasures: five-syllable girls' names; virtue and nature names; over-the-top antique names for boys
(if i repeat name suggestions in a thread, it's because i like them! no apologies here for repeats of great names! )

The Amaranthus (see here) is also the scientific name for the lovely flower Love-Lies-Bleeding. It also represents immortality. I've used Amaranthe before in a story years ago. I pronounce it Am-ah-ranth-ah, almost like Samantha. Amaranthe is pronounced the same way. I've also heard Amaranthia before.aurora- autumn- ashwyn- bambi- bernadette- calliope- emmalou- henriette- indigo- ione- january- lark- leela- llewellyn- lydia- marnie- molly- narnia- noelle- oralee- penelope- philomena- rain- raven- roxy- ruby- snow- tessa- thora- waverly- willow- winter- wren- zoe | abel- aesop- angus- banjo- bartholomew- bear- bruce- burkley- darwin- elliot- finn- flynn- foster- henry- indigo - knox - laszlo - lyle - navy - nemo - noah - otis - oakley - rainn - thatcher - thomas - thompson - titus - zen
