I love the story, and think the name Lauren fits well with your sibset. Why not?

You could always use it as a middle name if you don't love it as much as everyone else. I like the idea of spelling it Loren or Lauryn.

Strangely enough, I went out with a man called Lorin Ledger years ago. His mother liked music conductor Lorin Maazel. How weird is that? I guess you could spell it Lorin for a boy and Loren/Lauren/Lauryn if it's a girl.
    All the best,
    Mischa.

    You could use Lauren, or:
    Laura
    Lorena
    Lara
Laurel (My favorite with Lyrik and Ledger)
    Lily - Eliza - Isabelle - Rose - Margaret - Coraline - Emilia - Hazel
    Oliver - Simon - Jasper - Theodore - Henry - Leopold - Ezra - Jack

I was thinking along similar lines. There's also just plain Laure (a French version).

If you're not sold on Lauren, you could choose a longer name and use Lauren as a family nickname or just a special nickname for your son. Some options are Lorelei, Loretta, or Hannelore (which goes against the L trend, but I find it pretty).
