I love my maiden name. Its extremely uncommon but not unrecognizable or unpronounceable. OH's last name is an extremely common -er ending occupation name. But I will take it anyway because it means a lot to him.
My family doesn't have any memorable surnames other than my mother's maiden name that is extremely unusual so I don't want to share it. I'm always a tad jealous of those with obviously German surnames like my mother's or Van Der Whatever. I had two former teachers one a Vandergriff which I would love as Van Der Griff and another that I found interesting Vonderhide. My maiden sounds more English than German despite coming from an extremely German family.
