    I think where I live most people would say Lewis rather than Lou-ee.

    I am American and I prn it Loo-ee. Only because I know that is how the comedian Louis CK prns it and that is the only Louis I know of.

    I call Louis Lewis except for Louis Armstrong, but I knew his name before I ever saw it in writing.

    On the Louie spelling and pronunciation: my DH is Louie Dean and he always has trouble with people thinking it is a nickname and trying to put the "correct" spelling Louis.
