    Arrietty or Harriet?

On a previous post, I said I liked Arrietty (ah-ree-et-ee) as a nickname for Harriet, but, I've been told by a few that it could work as a stand alone name. Being a massive fan of The Borrowers, this name is one I'm seriously considering if I have a little girl one day, but which would work best? Harriet or Arrietty?

Arrietty sounds much more current to me. Harriet has always been too 'old' for my taste.

I love Arrietty! It's useable as a name on it's own. It's the name of a character in Mary Norton's 1952 novel 'The Borrowers', and a character in Hayao Miyazaki's animated movie 'The Secret World of Arrietty' based off of Mary Norton's novel. Harriet makes me think of an old, cranky grandma, so I've never been fond of it.
