I thought bijou was just a word meaning 'small but elegant'.
http://www.youcantcallitit.com/2010/...ch-baby-names/ < This is a list of the top 100 names in France from 2006. Thought it might be of interest.
Also, Cosette isn't used as a name in France. Quotes from Behind the Name comments:
"Although its a good idea not to name your kid Cosette if she'll ever go to France - it's the equivalent of saying with sarcasm "poor little rich girl!"
"Josette is a lovely alternative to Cosette, as the French I know tend to react to "Cosette" as Americans might react to the name "Baby" if born by an adult woman."

Oh, I positively adore French names. I'm working on a project about the Holocaust in school, and I decided to have my character be French instead of German, so I could use the names. I chose Eugenie Charlotte Fabre (main character), Capucine, Giselle and Edgar. I tried to find vintage ones, to match the setting. I do wish I was French so my children could have elegant elaborate vintage french names, but I have not an ounce of French blood in me, just Irish and Czech. These are my favorites though,
