  1. #6
I wouldn't call Freya super popular in Australia- isnt it like #200 in NSW?

I think its in the top 100 in Tas and Canberra tho.

Phaedra and Hero aren't goddesses, just so you know I love mythology, and I planned on using one in my daughter's name, although that didn't happen. I tried to stay away from the major goddesses because of the associations. And there are so many demi goddesses and nymphs with beautiful names too!

    Roman demi-goddesses:
    Aurora
    Bellona
    Clementia
    Collatina
    Egeria
    Epona
    Feronia
    Hersilia
    Juventas
    Lara
    Latona
    Libertas
    Mellonia
    Pomona
    Salacia
    Valentia
    Venelia
    Vesta
    Victoria

    Greek titans:
    Phoebe
    Rhea
    Theia
    Themis

    Greek demi-goddesses:
    Aglaia
    Alcyone
    Ambrosie
    Angelia
    Asteria
    Astraea
    Aura
    Calypso
    Charis
    Circe
    Dione
    Eirene
    Eos
    Eudora
    Eulimene
    Eunomia
    Euphemia
    Harmonia
    Hemera
    Hespera
    Ianeira
    Ino
    Iris
    Iynx
    Lysianassa
    Messembria
    Nyx
    Pandia
    Panopeia
    Penelopeia
    Selene
    Semele
    Thalassa
    Thaleia

    Greek nymphs:
    Adrasteia
    Ambrosia
    Arethusa
    Asteria
    Calypso
    Chione
    Chryseis
    Circe
    Cyrene
    Daphne
    Echo
    Elektra
    Eupheme
    Ianeira
    Ianthe
    Ione
    Ismene
    Kallianassa
    Kallianeira
    Liriope
    Maia

    Nephele
    Oenone
    Orseis

and then there are the mortals:

So psyched to see Freja there (and how lovely to see "my own", Danish spelling of the name). Though if your other children have names of Roman/Greek goddesses, I'd personally use another name of a Roman/Greek goddess for another kid.

    My own personal favourites (Greek/Roman):
    Athena/Minerva
    Ceres/Demeter
Gaia (technically not a goddess but the personification of Earth)
    Gallia
    Hera/Juno
    Hestia/Vesta
    Pomona

Some Norse Goddesses for your consideration:
    Eir
    Frigg
    Gefion
    Idunn
    Nanna
Zelia • Twenty • Film, history and royalty connoisseur • I have a personal blog and one about royalty
Exporting old Danish names, Greenlandic names and Greenlandic sibling names
Henry Ásgeirr Edmund • Amaury Charles Fyodor "Theo" • Alexander Adelin Lórien "Sasha" • Asa Edouard Ivik
Cosima Ingrid Zenobia "Mimi" • Matilda/Johanna Ivalo Galadriel "Tilda/Anna" • Gaia Margaret Undómiel • Asta Catherine Françoise

And for the moment: Atticus Elessar Oisín • Aviaaja Agnes Lúthien "Avi"

Yerp. It's one of those 'every other girl' names at the moment! Although they tend to spell it Freya as someone above said. Not half as pretty as Freja in my opinion.

Sorry to anyone who read TSI. First draft was terrible. Second drafting now.
