    Lesser known Biblical place names

Hi there! I found a list of Biblical place names on Wiki and listed out the ones I thought would work as names. Some would no doubt be very bold. It started out as a girl name list but I think some of those might be better for boys. It's debatable. But I'm putting them here because I think they're mostly feminine.

This is not an exhaustive list obviously. But I found some I wasn't aware of. I particularly like the Z names.

Some of these may have unpleasant meanings or associations of which I'm not aware. Although I left out the obvious ones, like Gomorrah and Golgotha.

    Achaia
    Arbela
    Bethany
Bethlehem - I've always thought this would make a lovely girls name
    Caria
    Cana
    Carmel
    Cilicia
    Chaldea
    Ebla
    Galilee
    Gethsemane - Pronounced geth-SEMM-uh-nee, I think it's quite nice
    India
    Jaffa
Jericho - unisex? More for boys?
Jerusalem - make fun if you want, I've always secretly loved this as a girls name. Nicknames include the adorable Ru and the witchy Salem.
    Jordan
    Kaska
    Kenya
    Laodicea
Lycia - I believe pr. LI-see-uh, with a long I as in "rice"
    Lydia
    Marah
    Mari
    Memphis
    Miriam
    Nazareth
    Nineveh
    Parthia
    Persia

I have known three little boys, throughout the years with the name Jericho... I love it!

    Great post!

Galilee has been on my list for years.
I know a girl in her 20s named Jerusalem.
I know a girl with mn Mari, a Jerica, a Jericho, and a cute little guy named Zion.
    若兰

I'm just a third-culture girl with an affinity for names.

I like as many for boys as I do for girls.

    Girls
    Kinneret
    Carmel
    Moriah

    Boys names to me
Jericho (have a relative by this name though)
    Gilead
    Israel

I prefer Benzion or Batzion ("son of Zion" or "daughter of Zion") to using Zion as a name.
