    Lewis or Kit?

Our boy is due any day and we can't decide on a name. Choices are Lewis Philip or Christopher Philip (we will call him Kit). I'm worried that Kit is maybe too precious and really don't like the nn Chris... Lewis seems like a safer choice given those concerns, but I just can't commit! Anyone have any strong preference? Our last name starts with a hard 'c' sound.

Well, I prefer Christopher (Kit) but with a hard C last name it might be a bit rhyming. But if that doesn't bother you there are a lot more nn's for Christopher than just Chris, though if you really hate Chris I might avoid the name just because it's the most obvious nickname and is bound to be used at some point in his life, whether you like it or not.

I love Kit heaps. Christopher isn't anything special but I do love it with the nickname as well as its pairing with Christopher.

I really really like the name Lewis. Christopher is classic and a name you can't really go wrong with (though personally I'm mediocre about it), however with a last name that starts with a hard C, and if you don't like the NN Chris (which might be hard to avoid once he's in school), it seems like Christopher might not really be the best choice.
