    I think it's very cute, and I love it as a term of endearment--but that's the only way I've heard it. Not sure how well it would go over as a name.

    I don't think this works as a first name at all. Like PP said, works as a mn, but not the right sound for a name. The nn Pet is cute, but I think 'pet' is a term of endearment in general anyway, so it's nothing special. (I remember this from the Eloise movies, her nanny called her 'pet'.)
