    Names in my child's class

My son just started school this year and I was very excited to get to know the names of all the children in his class. Overall, I was very surprised. It is a very diverse group of names. Also, I was shocked to discover that there are no two children with the same name (two girls names are close, but none the exact same).

I should also mention that I am in Canada. My son goes to a French school in a English community. Here are the names:

    Girls:

    Anna
    Arianna
    Audrey
    Brianne
    Catrina
    Ffion
    Isabelle
    Judith
    Juliette
    Lily
    Marley
    Melanie
    Sophia
    Sophie-Gabrielle

    Boys:

    Alessio
    Anthony
    Colin
    Eliam
    Hector
    Jack
    Kyle
    Logan
    Lukas
    Melchi
    Nathan
    Nicholas
    Wyatt
    Xavier

What names are in your child's class?

    Anna
    Audrey
    Judith
    Juliette

    Alessio
    Colin
    Hector
    Xavier
    Nicholas

    I don't love...

    Arianna
    Brianne
    Catrina
    Ffion
    Isabelle
    Lily
    Marley
    Melanie
    Sophia
    Sophie-Gabrielle

    Anthony
    Eliam
    Jack
    Kyle
    Logan

The names I don't love are mostly too popular and trendy. I mean, I like Isabelle and Sophia, but they're so overused. Otherwise, they're names I'm just not fond of.
    Audrey - Beatrice - Clara - Daphne - Flora - Jane - Mabel - Susannah

    Arthur - Barnaby - Edward - Frederick - Henry - Rupert - Theodore - Walter

    I

am not fortunate enough to have had children, but I am fortunate to have taught for 25 years (elementary through high school) in California.

I have to say these new names are exciting to me. I feel we have been in a vast wasteland of names for some time and the new Nameberryish names please me. A return to the classics, with some fresh twists. And how nice to be past the era of 25 different spellings of Caitlin.
