    STILL in the top 1000?!

Are there any names about which you are surprised that they're still hanging on in the top 1000? Mine is Melvin and Ignacio. This is just a question I'm curious about.

Pamela and Janet. Actually, I guess I'm not shocked about Pamela; it's pretty....but I find both Pamela and Janet dated.

I taught a girl named Janet. She's now eighteen. When I first met her, I thought it was very unusual for a teenager to be called Janet!

Nancy. I'm also surprised about Janet. It's my aunt's name and I've always found it kind of dated and stuffy, so I'm surprised it's still in use. Then again, I'd prefer both of those to Jazlynn and Jaylee, both of which are also on the list...

As to Melvin, I wonder if it's more popular among Spanish speakers, thus bringing it onto the list. I've never met a non-hispanic Melvin who wasn't old enough to be a grandfather.
