    Erasmus - It means 'beloved' and was the name of Charles Darwin's grandfather who wrote poems about natural history and evolution. He was also an abolitionist and supported education for women.
    Edwin - Edwin Hubble, astronomer and namesake of the Hubble Space Telescope, Hubble's law, and the Hubble Deep Field among other things.
    Sagan - Carl Sagan, astronomer and and creator of popular science books and television series Cosmos.
    Leonardo - Leonardo da Vinci, painter, sculptor, anatomist, inventor, engineer, and many others things I'm sure I'm forgetting right now.

    Ada - Ada Lovelace, mathematician, often considered to be the first computer programmer, daughter of Lord Byron.
    Hypatia - Ancient Greek mathematician and astronomer.
    Rosalind - Rosalind Franklin, biophysicist. One of the discoverers of the helical structure of DNA, though often uncredited.
    Lyra - Constellation and heroine of The Golden Compass.
    Vega - Star in Lyra constellation, home of the extraterrestrials in Contact.

    Thanks, Darlingdoe. It would be nice to tell our child that they're named after an inspiring scientist or artist. We especially like:

    Edwin - we have Hubble's new images up all over the place. I love to be reminded about our origin.
    Leonardo - before we decided to TTC we went on a vacation to Italy together and saw a museum with Leonardo's inventions on display
    Ada - this name was already on our list. computer programming is one of our hobbies (hopefully part of a business soon)
    Rosalind - we like the connection to the scientist, too bad this name is already taken in our extended family
