Vibe from Alena rather than Elena?

Elena I like, but it's ehhh. It's a touch lacking, feels a bit whiny.

Alena I like a bit more but I'm not sure about the vibe I'm getting from it. There's a quality I can't pinpoint.

What kind of feel do you get from the name Alena? A certain mental image, personality, anything?

I get an exotic vibe from Alena.

Elena, on the other hand, is rather plain and kind of middle-aged.

Maybe this stems from my great love for Elena but Alena looks like the trendy and trailer park version of Elena. The A takes away all the classiness I get from the name. Sorry! I see Alena as somewhat bratty while Elena is sophisticated and put together. Sorry, I probably wasn't any help at all

That's what I thought as well when I saw the spelling Alena...looked like a very trendy & unique way of spelling Elena..

I love both. Until now I prefer Elena because it's so elegant and classic, plus I love the nn Elle. Alena, on the other hand, sounds fresh to me. I love this variation too. It's my friend's niece's name and as far as I know, everyone loves her name.
