Another issue with Briar, is that it means "thorny patch" this isn't the most promising meaning for a child. When used with Rose (Briar Rose, as in Sleeping Beauty), it gives the sense of beauty in the midst of struggles, but by itself...
    Here are some other ideas:
Capucine -French for nasturtium, used as a name in Europe (at least, I once met a woman from Belgium with this name)
    Jonquil -French for daffodil
    Phoebe -cute little bird http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Phoebe
    Maple
    Lark
    Doe
Slate -although, this sounds a bit too masculine for me
    Plum

    Names that have nature meanings:
    Celeste -heavenly
    Tabitha -gazelle
    Petra -rock, stone
Mommy to John Alexander & 3 furbabies; Maggie the dog, Rex & Bella the wannabe lions

Current favourites: girls -Eliana [Bronwen, Joy, Claire, Irene], Leora [Irene, Bronwen, Bronwyn], Sarah Elise, Anna Charlotte, Adelaide, Phoebe, Kathryn, Elizabeth, Anastasia, Celeste, Astrid, Beatrix, Lucy
boys: Callum, Arthur [Paul or William], Nathaniel, Samuel, Zachary, Elijah

I'm currently reading Atlas Shrugged and love the main character's name: Dagny. It means new day.

Briar is a bit too negative for me. It's a symbol for trouble and persecution.

I like Caraway--it's less obviously nature sounding but still very pretty.

I know it's been suggested before, but I really like Maple.

Others that are on the top of my "nature" list:
    Fern
    Coral
    Nova
    Olive
    Acacia
    Livy/Lucy : Geneva/Gwen : Coralie/Alice : Noelle/Eve
    Eli/Bennett : Jude/Zane: Luke/Leo : Levi/Phineas
