I don't mind most place names. Most names are place names anyways (eg: Ada, Michigan; Emily. Minnesota; Jackson, Michigan, etc). It would be pretty weird if there was a girl named Indiana that lived there though.
I know a pair of twins in their mid-20s who are named Boston and Hudson. At first I found this tacky, but then their siter told me that their mom had grown up in New York and their dad was from Massachusetts. They lived in Michigan so I thought this was a very cool way to honor their hometowns.

I have briefly flirted with some local river names like Columbia or Willamette but I think they are a bit much.

I generally dislike place names... However wrongly, I tend to assume that any unusual place name is probably where the child was conceived... which is kind of TMI for a name. I know girls named Virginia, Savannah, Catalina, Dakota, Madison, Sienna, and Asia. The wave of kids with names like Paris, Brooklyn, London, etc. is just way too much for me though.

For me, it depends upon the name. I like Austin, Geneva, Florence and Catalina, but Florida, England, Provence, Australia or any other name that doesn't have a history of long-term use as a first name would be too much for me.
