    Mallory or Valerie?

Lately I have been liking Mallory a lot. Meanings don't really matter to me, but this name's meaning is one of the worst.
Valerie sounds similar and I like the nn Val. I do not care for Mal as a nn for Mallory though.
Which name do you like better?

I definitely prefer Valerie. It sounds more like a first name, and I love the Amy Winehouse song. So catchy.

I much prefer Valerie. It feels more timeless, while Mallory feels more like an early 90s name to me.

I like Mallory. I know a Mallory and we call her Mal, but you could easily call her Mallory.
