    Pronunciation of Xavier?

I've only ever heard it as ex-ay-vee-er in real life but nameberry says it's actually zay-vee-er. Have you heard either in real life/how would you think it was pronounced at first glance?

I say it with the harsher X and prefer it that way. (Like Professor Xavier from X-Men)
However, I also know a man named with it pronounced with the softer Z sound, which doesn't appeal to me as much. It's a matter of personal preference.

I pronounce it zay-vee-er and have only ever heard it said that way here in Australia. I much prefer it this way but that probably is because it is what I am used to!

I pronounce it ex-ay-vee-er, and every Xavier I've ever met pronounces it that way as well.

Most "x" names are pronounced with a "z" so Xavier should be "zay-vee-er".
    All the best,
