    Daffodil: not so much
    Mace: no way
    Solstice: dont think so
    Daffy: means goofy so no

I always like Saffron or Saffronia nn Saffy. I also knew a girl names Saffiya (Arabic) nn Saffy.
    Daphne: much cuter

I like Maisie! And maybe Poppy. They're not as fun as Daffy, but still good choices. No idea what they could be nicknames for though, except Margaret "Maisie" but Margaret isn't my style

I could always ask, but it sounded as they were dead set on Daffodil. Won't suggest Primrose though, that's on our middle name list. ;-)

Daffy means a little touched in the head, but it does have a sweet sound. I don't think you can use Daffy itself, as your sister has already claimed it, but some similar sounds:

    Saffron nn Saffy
Safie, [prn saffy]: a Persian princess in Frankenstein, short for Safiyah [pure in Arabic]
Dagny [new day]-- Scandi choice, if you want one
    Jacqueline, Jacinta, etc nn Jacey
Polly from Penelope, Paula, Paulina, Apollonia, etc
    Lorraine nn Rainey
    Roxy (from Roxanna, Roxanne, Rukhsana)
Sandy from Alessandra, Sandrine, Alessia, etc
    Vianney

    Alfa
    Farrah
    Fausta
    Fia
    Florence nn Flossie
    Francine nn Frankie
    Freda
Siofra ("Shee-fra," meaning 'fairy' in Irish Gaelic)
    Blade, MD

    XY: Antoine Raphael
    XX: Cassia Viviane Noor

How about Persephone with the nn "Sephie" or "Seffie"? I always thought it was a cute nickname. Persephone Primrose actually has a lovely ring to it, if you don't mind the alliterative initials.
