Others have suggested most of what I would've already, but just wanted to say that I really like Joss, and think it would sound great with Rowan (which I love)!

My only additional suggestions would be:

    Zephyr
    Sylvan
    Forrest
Tara, proud mama to a Honey Badger
... and a Badger in Training

    Rigby
Silas - This is also very popular in my area though
    Marcel - Too... French?
Roman - Obviously too close to Rowan, haha. I do like it though.
Asa - my husband said this reminded him of a weird old timey preacher though
Dexter - too connected to the serial killer maybe? I seem to be hearing it a lot more lately too.
    Bramwell - Bram, mostly.
    Cyrus
    Calix
Malcolm - too closely associated with Malcolm X?
    Oren
    August
Sage - Think I like this one more for a girl though.
Judah - Too much of a religious/Biblical image? We're not religious in the slightest.
I like this list, but agree with you on striking Judah, Asa and Marcel. Oren is really perfect-- it's subtly natural, since most people in NC don't speak Hebrew, but sounds cool and modern. You can't do anything too overt since that detracts from the beauty of Rowan's name.

    Also:

    Kedar / Kedre
Acton [anything ac- relates to oak trees]
    Arlo [bayberry]
Arvid [I think this name kicks ass. It means 'eagle tree']
    Burke [birch trees]
Cheyne [someone needs to use this amazing old French name meaning oak tree]
    Lyndon
    Tannon [German for fir tree]
    Ivo [yew tree]
Vireo [a small strikingly green bird]
    Blade, MD

    XY: Antoine Raphael (3.1.2012)
    XX: Cassia Viviane Noor (11.30.2013)

Ooh, I think Burke would be super cool with Rowan.
Tara, proud mama to a Honey Badger
... and a Badger in Training
