Thank you all for your input! I often find myself asking questions on here that I already know the answer to. I didn't think I cared for it but wanted to see what others thought. I wondered if it sounded made up and trendy to everyone else or if it was just me. For some reason, I have always liked the name Grady. I'm not sure why, because I'll admit it sounds kind of harsh, if that makes any sense? Maybe we could just use Grady and still have the nn Gray if we wanted to use it. Not sure why I seem to be drawn to C and G names? One of the top 2 middle names we're thinking of is Cooper. Would Grady Cooper work? Not sure...not thinking that sounds great together? Thanks again!

To answer your original question, yes, it sounds made up or a way to cash in on the Aiden trend and be different still, as pp said. But to answer your newest post, I love Grady!!! And you do get the nn possibility of Gray. But Grady in itself feels like an older modern name ... like a name that was considered "modern" maybe when our parents were growing up but now has a history and it never went over the line into trendy like Jennifer, so it's not tired ... if that makes any sense at all.

Also (I hope this doesn't ruin the name for you, but it's a plus for me!) I'm a huge Murder, She Wrote fan and her nephew's name is Grady, so that's a positive association for me. I just think it has a nice sound to it -- makes me smile. Grady Cooper is a very nice combo as long as you think it sounds good with your last name, and I think it goes really well with your other sons' names (which are very handsome also!!)

Greydon is the first name of the editor- in -chief of Vanity Fair. He's about sixty, I think, so it's not a "new" name. I don't think it sounds made up.

It isn't so much that it sounds made up. I just think that at this point everyone who pays attention to names is so fed up with the "rhymes with Aidan" crew that we instinctively shoot down any name that ends in -don, -ton, -den, etc. Gray or Grady would be better options.

The most famous Graydon has the last name Carter, he's a fairly interesting namesake but with a son already named Carter, I don't think it's usable.

Oh wow! Thank you freehal and blade for informing me about Graydon Carter. I had never heard of him. Thank you catheyc for your compliment on my other little guys' names. I think Graydon is off the table. I don't hate it, but don't love it either. I think Grady stays on my list for now though.

Thanks to all of you again for your advice
