Giving some love to the surnames as first names!
I kind of feel like the "surnames as first names" need a little love. They seem to be getting a lot of hate on here lately. Although, there are some I don't like, there are others I am guilty of loving!
My favorites are:
Sawyer
Easton
Weston
Hudson
Greyson
Brennan
Bennett
Darcy
Dawson
Griffin
Lincoln
Logan
Spencer
Nolan
Parker

Two of my favorite names right now are Montgomery and Edison. If I was pregnant and having a boy I would name him either one of those in a heartbeat. They are such handsome names that are not common but not too out there with great nick names. They are winners in my book
Amelia, Arianna, Claire, Elisabeth, Hannah, Jane, Magnolia, Mara, Marigold, Oriana, Tessa
Asher, Donovan, Edison, Ezra, Gabriel, Henry, James, Jude, Julian, Montgomery, Morgan, Silas, William, Zane

Great thread Kitty! I feel they're being treated unfairly as well.
My all time favourite is Mortimer; it's so dashing! Maybe I'm influenced by Our Mutual Friend, but I'm swooning over this one!

Thanks for a great thread! I live in South USA, and we don't need anyone to give our surnames some love! It isn't a trend but a way of life in existence since the beginning of the South

Both my children have old English surnames for first names- Grantson (boy) and Wellsley (girl)...
My favorites of all-time are Cagney, Calder, Windsor, Wetherly, and Fleming. Family names I'd use are Jessup and Gainer.
Others I like include- Langford, Kellar, Sutton, Gatlin, Palmer, Granger, Hemingway, Remington,
I like hearing the use of- Spencer, Carter, Griffin, Parker, Turner, Porter, Sullivan, Worth, Easton, Emerson, Ellison, Landry

I love surnames as first names! My family has tended to have rather boring names (John, Robert, etc), so I love the idea of giving my future children surnames as first names to connect them to our family members who have passed away.
I'm considering:
James
Lee
Dawson
Reid
Shaw
Cole
Thatcher
Pearl
Lucas
20-something year old woman; newlywed; name obsessed
Currently loving:
Bridie; Jocelyn; Winifred
Jasper; Lochlan; Thatcher
