girls name fog- fresh inspiration needed please!
Hi all!
Our 4th is due in June, a sibling for Eloise, Jude and Iris. I think we have pretty much decided on Arlo for a boy but I'm suffering from baby name fatigue for a girl! (All those years of obsession and now nothing seems fresh or seems to excite me!)
Indigo (nn indi) was a front runner but I've always though of my style as being vintage/classic and I'm starting to wonder if Indigo seems a bit fadish?!
Other names I've loved in the past but some how just don't seem quite right are
Celeste
Esme
Pearl
As you can see quite a small list! My husband is pretty laid back and can usually be convinced (though he does hate Pearl!) So any suggestions gratefully received!
Thank you !xxxx

I wouldn't use Indigo given that it starts with an I, like Iris, and really is significantly more hippie-trendy than your other children's names, which I would describe as vintage. Your boys' choice, Arlo, fits perfectly.
Celeste, Eloise and Iris is a whole lot of S sound, leaving poor Jude as the odd man out. Esme and Eloise are too close.
Pearl really is perfect-- hits all the right notes. Same vintage style, but has its own sounds, and is monosyllabic like Jude. If your husband hates it, he hates it.
It seems me you prefer non-frilly girls' names with an antique, vintage flavor. Ideas:
Corinne
Clara
Hazel
Margot
Maeve
Lenore
Laurel
Verity
Flora

My taste in names run to the classic and/or literary; names I feel will age gracefully and do not correspond with an era or trend...

I love Arlo, and I think it goes perfectly with your other children's names!
I agree that Indigo doesn't quite fit with your other children's names. It's not a bad name, but it sticks out a lot with Eloise, Jude, and Iris. I also don't love the fact that it begins with an I like Iris does.
Pearl came to mind as soon as I read Eloise, Jude, and Iris, before I had read your list. I really like Celeste, Esme, and Pearl and think that they would all fit in really well with your other kids' names, but if they aren't right then they aren't right.

You want something a little different that will still fit in with the names of your other children, who have vintage classic style names? It could work. Indigo, Eloise, Iris and Jude... I like it. I'm not of the opinion that sibling names should be perfectly matched in all areas, but here are other ideas...
Althea
Calista
Gaia
Clio
Enid
Aurora
Calypso
Penelope
Greek names could work out for you, they are different but definitely not too fadish, plus you have an Iris already.* Aurelia * Quinn * Hazel* Rosalie * Iris * Aurora * Beatrix * Thalia * Vivian ** Jasper * Everett * Malachi * Rowan *
