    Gwyneth vs. Gwendolyn

I really like the nickname Gwen, but I am unsure of whether I prefer Gwyneth or Gwendolyn as a full name. What do you all think, and what would be some good middle names?

If you like the nickname GWEN, I'd say go with Gwendolyn.

Plus, I do like the look of that better.

Gwendolyn by far for me. Though I've heard before that the appropriate spelling is Gwendolen.

I prefer Gwendolyn. Mainly because it gives more nn options: Wendy, Dolly, Gwyn, Lyn. But Gwyneth is nice.

I was kind of leaning towards Gwendolyn over Gwyneth as well...glad to see others like it! I know Gwendolen is the traditional spelling, but Gwendolyn seems to be the more common spelling today. I was thinking there would be less need to correct people with Gwendolyn, but I personally like both spellings.

I'm loving Gwendolyn Alice, Gwendolyn Carys, and Gwendolyn Eve. Beautiful!

My personal preference is probably Gwendolen, but both of them are winners, September!

Nameberry.com's Linda and Pam say, "Like many other old-fashioned names, [Gwendolen an] ancient Welsh favorite is up for reappraisal [revival]." And "We think its mellifluous sound and wonderful meaning make Gwyneth a candidate for more widespread use."

Gwendolen [spelled "lyn"] is the 572nd most popular name in the United States; Gwyneth, the 978th [2011 stats].

GWENDOLEN Blair is one pairing you might like.

I love Gwendolyn, partially because I'm currently in love with the nickname Wendy. Plus, it has a more appealing sound to me than Gwyneth.
