    I think Alec by itself or as a nickname for Alexander would be wonderful.

    As far as I can tell Elic (sometimes spelled Elek) is a NN for Alexius in Hungary that is occasionally used as a stand alone name.
    I don't think it'd be a bad name on it's own, but it does seem more like a NN to me.
    Alexander with Alec as a NN, or the stand alone name of Ellis, would be good potential options...

    I think it's too unconventional and think you should use some form of Alexander. I love Alec as a stand alone name.
