@ frances, I read about the Shettles method a while ago (is that what you're doing?) and I did think then, it sounds easier to conceive a boy than a girl via that method! But then, there's about an even mix of girl and boy babies, so I don't know if I understand the theory correctly...
@ alzora, I'm sorry to hear you're feeling down about TTC at the moment. It must be so hard to be disappointed for 10 cycles in a row. Would you take a break for a month or two? I guess it would be quite hard to forget about but I do know of quite a few women who finally got pregnant when they stopped trying!
I have a bit of a TMI question, sorry. I am SO confused by my cervical fluid! I am just tracking CM and when we have sex this month, my chart is here: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/454474. I expected to ovulate around the middle of the month but I don't think I actually did until around the 19th or 20th. However the last few days I have had VERY light spotting (I only notice when I check my cervix). I am on day 23 of my cycle, surely I cannot still have ovulation spotting?!Mother to miss Mila Arden. Alzora and Milasmomma- Yes, we are 'using' the Shettles method, but not strictly. What I mean is, you can take it to the extreme, and I'm not that committed...yet. I don't worry about what positions, or what I'm eating, etc. I'm using the basic belief that boy sperm swim a little faster than girl sperm, but girl sperm can survive a little longer inside the body than the boys. Based on this, you have sex a good 3-4 days BEFORE you expect to ovulate. This helps stack the odds in favor of only girl sperm being viable once the egg drops. Of course, it isn't full proof. And, b/c I'm not using the sticks to determine my actual ovulation day, I can only use an educated guess each month as to when it will happen. (My cycles are regular, and the average when combined is 28 days.) What I know from my friends getting pregnant, and finding out the gender, and what I know from my first pregnancy, it seems to support this line of thinking. However, I also read about a study that found the best time to get a baby girl was to have sex the day after ovulation, which if true, would debunk this theory completely. So who knows. I'll keep you guys posted as to if it works, or if we give up first.Mother of Harold Jonathan, nn Hal

Yeah, nothing to report here. I guess I've just started the two-week wait. I didn't do ovulation tests this month, so I don't know which day I ovulated, but I think it was yesterday based on my skin and physical appearance. Lots of fertile cervical mucus for the past three days, tapering off toward the end of the day yesterday. We didn't even try yesterday though. We tried the two previous days and I told him that was good. I have no expectations for this month and am just waiting it out until I can seek medical help in September. I'm just going to enjoy my summer without TTC stress. No more tracking for me. When I see fertile cervical mucus we'll give it a go each month, but no more testing, and no more expecting anything. September is not that far away.Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in glorious light.
I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.

@alzora - I think that's a good attitude to have right now. You're still doing your thing when you feel fertile but not obsessing. I think that's a good way to not drive yourself crazy until September. Good luck to you as always!
I guess I am starting TTW. This is my first Clomid cycle, so I went to buy OPKs before starting. I usually just got the smiley versus blank circle ones by Clearblue. Well, I saw these "Advanced" Clearblue Ovulations kits that actually give you three readings.... A blank circle for nothing, a flashing smiley for high and a smiley for peak. Has anyone used these??? So I thought, why not? ha! Anyway, starting Day 11 of my cycle I started testing each morning and it wasn't until Day 18 in the morning that I got a blinking smiley for high. Something made me test again in the evening, and what do you know? Now it showed peak levels with a stationary smiley face. My husband was gone that day so we couldn't do anything but we had our fun the following day. My doctor had told me to try for it the day after it turned positive anyway. Now I've gotten positive readings on one of these before, so I wasn't too, too excited BUT I also started feeling twinges/slight pains where my ovaries are starting the day of the positive and the next day when we BDed. So I am feeling cautiously optimistic. I am really hoping the Clomid worked and made me ovulate. I think we will try again today too, although probably if it did happen, the window of opportunity has already closed. I am also going in to get my Progesterone levels tested in a couple days to see if I did in fact ovulate. I will be really excited if my levels show that I did. I don't want to get too excited otherwise.
Anyway, that's my (long - sorry!) update.
Good luck to everyone else wherever they are in their TTC journey!TTC #1
