My deep condolences. I can think of nothing better than honoring little Leo in his sister's name (in fact, in the days when the loss of a child was far more common, it was nearly a standard practice to give a child the same name as their deceased sibling). I assume Lev was Leo's Hebrew name?

Louise, Luna and Lu all share different name roots than Leo. What about

    Leona
Leonie (this is very chic in France right now)
    Leocadia
    Leone
    Leonora
    Leotie
Leontine (or Leontyne, like the singer)
Eleora (which is Hebrew, meaning 'God has given')

Thank you for the suggestions. I'm not sure exactly where we'll go with it, nothing feels perfect. I'm half wishing this baby is a boy so we can go with our boy choice, Samuel Lev... perfect.

I think Audrey Lev is a lovely name and it works fine. My one reservation might be that since Liv is so much more familiar as a girls' name this may be what people hear - but this won't come up that much really in the middle spot.

Besides all the lion related suggestions above there's Ariel, another traditionally male name in Hebrew with a meaning related to lions that is however more familiar as a girls' name in the US. Audrey Ariel (or Audrey Arielle, etc.) is quite pretty to me.

Ooh, I agree with the Arielle suggestion. Lovely. And still classically Jewish.

Samuel Lev is very striking, congratulations on arriving at a decision.
