Quite a few from ottilie's most recent list are Tolkien names, which I didn't suggest since I knew you were already a fan. But I love them! Celebrian was Elrond's wife, who died after being captured and tormented by orcs. Her sons Elladan and Elrohir avenged her. And Elbereth is the Elves' name for the goddess (Vala) Varda, creator of the stars.
Almost any of these could be awesome as character names.
I like Alexander and love Demetrius as a middle name, though I would almost have expected Dimitry, since his brother is Gavriil. By the way, does Alexander's son Hyperion have a nickname?"He telleth the number of the stars; He calleth them all by their names."

I don't think these are incredibly rare, but here are a few that I can think of:

Hey Angel I assume you would do this anyway... but... if you are using names for a book that could be associated with LotR, or some other scifi/fantasy series I'd google them to make sure that only the most die-hard of fans know them. In particular if you are writing for the same audience. This would be particularly important if it's something you hope to sell in the future. (Or you might have to make reference to the fact that they were named after so-and-so which might not vibe with your book).
I thought about you and this thread when I was poking around BehindtheName.com and decided to check out the Manx names for the first time. The list they have is really short so I thought I'd type it up for you.
