Nothing wrong with Kaja, Maja or Sonja. These are common spellings in other countries. I don't like the others though.

German too. But as pp pointed out I wouldn't just sub a j for an i or a y anywhere and would only use it where it's a legit variation. (Though I feel that way about spellings in general so maybe not the most helpful insight at this point. lol.)

Check out Finnish names, there are lots of j-as-y sounding ones there.
Agreed. Polish names, as well. My first thoughts are Gracja (GRAHS-ya) and Lilija (LIL-ee-yah). A lot of German "J" FNs have the "Y" sound, too--like Justus, Jonas, Josefine/Josefina/Josephine. I do really like Kaja/Kaija, although I prefer the Kaia spelling.

I think Sonja is the only one that works, the others are a little over the top for me.

    I agree with all this.

A Finnish friend of mine is named Meiju (MAY-yu), which I really like.
