Being a Christian myself, I would definitely associate an Evangeline with Christianity. However, it's not as strong an association as Christian for a boy, so I think people of all beliefs can use it without issue. It's a gorgeous name!

I see the tie to Christianity but I wouldn't assume that the child was a Christian/had Christian parents.

I'm Christian, as is the rest of my family, but I don't think of Evangeline as a Christian name, though I can see why it would be seen as one. I suppose it sounds like one but isn't- it's not a virtue nor a biblical character. When I met an Evangeline I didn't assume anything about her religion.
