I tend to like it when i hear a typically feminine name on a boy, especially if it used to be a boy name, like Ashley or Mackenzie. But at the same time i roll my eyes at boy names on girls, mostly because once its given to the girls, most parents refuse to use it on a boy. There are already so few boy names compared to girl names, it just doesn't seem fair that people keep turning the masculine classics into new feminine names when so few people are willing to let old girl names become fresh new boy names.

What i mean is...I'd love to see Elliot/Charlie/Will/Felix on a girl. But only if i could see Ashley/Mackenzie/Aubrey/Madison on a boy become just as popular, and without bullying comments (from adults as well as kids) about the boy being feminine or gay or anything like that. Until that happens? I'd prefer the girls to stop stealing the boy names
I hope to be a mom one day. For now I enjoy being a name lover.

My apologies for any typos; i post from my mobile phone.

    Yes. Yes they can.

    Yes. Yes you are.

Boys names on girls = misogyny. It's that simple. Do we seriously have to have this conversation again?

I have an ancestor named Sebastienne, b. 1625. I love it! Also, Emilienne and Guillaumette (not a favorite).

Not all girls are prissy little frilly things. I like strong names for girls, though there are plenty of feminine strong names to choose from, sometimes a boy's name just fits.

In all seriousness, what would your reaction be if you met a boy named Isobel or Ava or Mary and his parents explained, "A girls name just fit!"
