Yeah, Johnny was my only other thought. I much prefer Jack (my brother is a Johnny, and it sounds so childish to me, although I do suppose it works for some people). I've also heard J/JJ/Jay.
I was also thinking of variations of John, like Johannes, Zane, Ian, Shane, Giovanni, etc., but I'm guessing that's not what you're looking for...Lise
