    Tallulah?

Does anyone have thoughts on Tallulah? I think it's lovely and spunky.

I also found two possible meanings/origins of the name from Native American roots & Gaelic. The Native American roots are well-documented, defining the meaning as "leaping water" and originating in the South. I'm having trouble finding the Saint Tallulah I've read about on a few web sites. Does anyone have info on the meaning of this name on the Anglican/Gaelic side? Possibly what she was the saint of in Ireland/England? Thanks!

    Possible combos-

    Tallulah Grace
    Tallulah Mae
    Tallulah Harper
    Tallulah Caroline
    Tallulah Charlotte
    Tallulah Winter
    Tallulah Reese
    Tallulah Penelope (Too much?)
    Tallulah Louise
Mabel Charlotte & Ella Mae | Gavin Charles & Ethan Henry

The Native American origins are not quite that settled. I think there's consensus that it is Native American, but which language and what meaning is not settled, if anything Creek "town" seems more attested than Choctaw "leaping waters".

The Irish roots of the name come from Anglicizations of Gaelic Tuilelaith, and is sometimes spelled without the H and/or with the 2Ls and 1L flipped: Tallula, Talulla, Talullah:

The saint apparently is a known figure but may not have been formally canonized? At least that's what Apellation Mountain is claiming, and it would explain your difficulties finding more info.

    Hope that helps!

My favorites on your list. Though I also like the Tallula spelling. nn Lula.
    Tallulah Mae
    Tallulah Winter
    Tallulah Grace
    Tallulah Harper
    Tallulah Reese

The ones below are equally beautiful but because Tallulah is so heavy on the "L"s I'm not sure if these, at least visually, don't make the "L"s to prominent.
    Tallulah Caroline
    Tallulah Charlotte
    Tallulah Penelope
    Tallulah Louise

I love the name Tallula! I often considering using it.

Back in the 30s and 40s, Tallulah Bankhead gave the name quite a stir! In response to her claim that she was named after her grandmother who was named after Tallulah Falls in Georgia, which was in turn named after an Indian princess, and article appeared in the Pittsburgh Gazette. This may be of some help in your research.

For what it is worth, there are many amazing saints that we no little about other than their names! Use one anyway, they smile from Heaven when they are remembered....
