Wow what great comments. They do make me appreciate the name Anna a lot more. I'll have to see what husband thinks again. We have basically come down to 2 names - Anna or Hadley. I know, Hadley is a love/hate name here on NB, but I fall in the love category. Just last night he told me since he doesn't really love any girl names he'd be ok if we went with my favorite, which is Hadley. I didn't think he'd ever come around to that! He used to tell me Hadley was an old man name, and now he says he likes it ok but it's a non-traditional name which is outside his comfort zone, though he'd be ok with it. He agreed that he liked Anna but the only thing he didn't like was that it is a little plain. I'll share your comments and maybe we will vet both names a little more just to make sure we are satisfied with our final choice. I may need to start a new thread..

I do like the name Anna, however do feel Anna Johnson may be to common. I have a unique name and I like that I never met anyone with the same first name. I can't imagine meeting someone with the same first AND last name, which I feel like might happen with an Anna Johnson. It is a nice name though, so if the common part doesn't bother you, go for it, it's lovely.

My full name is Annalynne, but I have always gone by Anna. Personally, I don't feel that I've met too many people name Anna in my life, or felt like my name was too common.
However, if you feel it is, I think variations like Annalynne, Annabelle, etc. might feel less plain when you say her full name. I sort of always liked having a sort of nickname for my longer name, and that I had the option to use my longer name if I wanted too.
There's also AnnaSophia, but I feel that's a little wordy. I think there are tons of names with Anna in them, but also you could probably just choose a 1 syllable name, tack it on the end, and it wouldn't seem weird or 'yoo-neek' either.
Also I would go with Cecilia, because although name meanings, or connotations may be a big 'no', I think no one will care that Cecilia means blind, but instead they'll care that you named your daughter after your grandmother.

Exactly. This is one of my biggest concerns. My DH has a very common first name, and I have known more than one person with his exact first and last name, and we've both had coworkers with his same name. That's weird to me, but he says it has never bothered him and it's his name. I just don't want to do that to my kids. He says that's a dumb reason, and more than likely she'll have a new last name is approx 25 yrs anyway!
