Girl name decided! Still undecided about boys...

Hello,

So we have decided on our girls names: either Pippa Louise or Thea Louise - we like to have 2 finalists in case one doesn't suit! Boys names are harder: middle name will be Henry, surname Drinkwater, siblings Daisy Hannah and Joel Matthew. So to the list!

Nigel
Alan
Lewis
Theo

Quick note: we don't do nicknames and name our children what we will call them! What do you think?

I like Theo best. I might recommend against Jason as it shares the first letter with Joel and Nigel as it shares the ending. While I quite like Theo and think it fits with Daisy and Joel, I think Alan and Lewis are nice and possibly fit even better. Good luck!

With Daisy and Joel, I like Adam the best. Have you considered Aaron? Lewis is second (Louis is my preferred spelling) followed by Alan.


Why I didn't pick the others?

Jason has the same initial as Joel.
Nigel and Joel end the same way.
Theo (my fave) and Joel are a bit matchy in sound.

I like Daisy, Joel and Theo or Daisy, Joel and Lewis. Theo Henry or Lewis Henry sound great. Diddo on Jason and Nigel, I'm not crazy about how they sound with Joel.

Very interesting! I don't think Nigel and Joel sound remotely similar! ny-jel vs jole (one syllable) - interesting that you've all commented on it though... mischa: Louis is pn loo-ee here! So, aiming for an easy life for him. Not a fan of Aaron but thanks! You do all have a point about 2 J initials!

Oh man you've just GOT to go with Lewis Henry Drinkwater! I love Louis, but I hear what you're saying about pronunciation confusion. You have a great last name, and with Henry, I think of John Henry (in the excellent song) asking for a cool drink of water before he dies. Lewis is so American, like Lewis and Clark. It's relaxed but it's got integrity, and works beautifully with the rest of the name. Lewis Henry Drinkwater is timeless, reminiscent of old blues music, and has SERIOUS character. The other names don't feel as substantial to me.

I think Pippa Louise is just adorable! I'd quite like Theadora but not just Thea. I could so imagine Pippa & Theadora being sisters. Daisy, Joel & Pippa is just a fabulous sibset! Pippa Drinkwater sounds much better than Thea Drinkwater.

As for the boys I love the idea of Daisy, Joel & Theo / Adam - both of those work well.

I love Lewis Henry! When I looked at your list of names, that was the first I thought of. Then I read your other kids names, and I think Theo would be really great with Daisy and Joel. I also love Thea!

I love that you're not doing nicknames! We're going to call Baby what we name him or her as well!

Seems like Lewis has his own cheering section! ottilie: I think that just put Theo out of the running for a boy... I love Thea more and couldn't use both... Can't believe I hadn't noticed that before!
