Lydia & Sylvia
Do you think Lydia and Sylvia are too similar to work as sisters, or are they distinct enough? I'm not expecting, just trying to sort out my list
I adore both Lydia and Sylvia but I think they might be too close to work together. They share a lot of the same letters, they have the same flow and number of syllables, and they are of a similar style. Would definitely appreciate a fresh perspective on this, what do the berries think?

Hmmmm, first off I love both names. I think it's fine in theory. I wonder around the house if like from far away they'd sound too similar though - like if you call out Lydia if Sylvia comes running. I don't think it's too likely though. I think one way to make this work is if you like nicknames - Lyddie/Liddy and Sylvie sound more distinct. Or just use Lydia and Sylvie or Lydia and Sylvana.
The other consideration is if you plan on more than 2 kids. I mean it's OK to break patterns, but I would expect Lydia and Sylvia's sister to be Julia, Dahlia, or Amelia.
Good luck!

I don't think they're too similar in general, but for me, I would try and pick one and find a replacement for the other. I just like a little more variation amongst siblings.

I think they're too close. I actually had something of the same problem, loving Lydia, Lucia and Lovisa. I kept Lydia, since it's my great-grandmother's name.
Maybe Sunniva could be an alternative to Sylvia? It's a little more unusual, but very pretty
I'm also reminded of Sabine/Sabina and Selena.
Lydia alternatives might be Louisa, Lenora, Lilias/Lileas and Leoba/Lioba.Resident Norwegian, feel free to ask any questions regarding lovely Norse names and such! I'm more than happy to help ^^

Personally I think they are too matchy for siblings.

Thank you so much everyone
I'm still a little undecided but if I had to choose between them I'd probably go for Lydia as I've loved it for so long. I agree that Lydia/Lydie and Sylvia might make them more distinctive, but I'm not completely convinced. Maybe I'll keep Sylvia for a mn.
@jesba- it's really funny you mentioned Amelia, because I was talking to my mum about this problem the other day and she thought that Lydia, Sylvia and Amelia would make perfect sisters.
@dearest- Sunniva, Louisa and Lilias are gorgeous, thanks

This is so funny. My sister named her first daughter Lydia, and I told her Sylvia would be a perfect sister name if they ever have another girl. Some people have a problem with "matchy" sibsets, but I don't. Lydia and Sylvia match in endings only, that's all. Other choices that may be a nice fit could be Eliza, Alma, or Calla. But seriously, Lydia and Sylvia are so precious together!
