Looking for alternatives to Edison
We are expecting a baby boy and love the name Edison. The problem is our daughter is named Sawyer and I worry about the Tom Sawyer Thomas Edison connection. Our last name starts with T and ends in "er.". We also like Grant but I am concerned about the t eding with our last name. Another name we love is Hudson but we already used it for a pet. We like strong names that are somewhat unique but not too out there. Please help!!!

I was racking my brain trying to figure out the connection between edison and sawyer. I didn't get it until I read the pp. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Edison is pretty tied to Thomas, but Sawyer is common enough now that you don't immediately think of Tom. Also, although Tom is short for Thomas, Tom Sawyer is never Thomas.
If you love Edison, you should use it.Ttc since June 2012.
Current faves:
Boys: Asa Joseph, August Joseph, Oscar Abram, Wallace Abram
Girls: Susannah Ellen, Beatrice Plum, Henrietta June, Coralie Marilla

I honestly don't think that many people are going to make the connection. I would just use Edison.

Yeah, I am a great over thinker and Edison and Sawyer doesn't bother me. Just don't name a next son Thomas ; ). Seriously, they sound good together, they just sound surnamey. I don't think you're locking yourself in - if you have a third child with a surnamey name and there was no Thomas by that name, you are still fine!
