    Guinevere June
    Guinevere Rosamond
    Guinevere Lilac
    Guinevere Charlotte
    Guinevere Tess

Since both can't be used in the same family, which is better Hazel (girl) or Gable (for a boy)?

@watermellie: This is a wonderful idea for a thread!

I have two middle names myself, but I get it - my mom is from a country where everyone has two middle names, and in her language it tends to flow better that way. I don't know if I'll give my kids two or just one.

To respond to the above question, I like Hazel better! Gable sounds too formal to me.

Nicknames - love them or hate them? Do you rate a name based on its nickname potential?

I guess I can understand it if it's for cultural reasons...thanks niiskuneiti!

I love nicknames. I think that sometimes a name needs to be shortened...but in Russian culture nicknames aren't simplified versions of names...they're elaborated ones! The more elaborate the nickname, the closer the person is to them.
But anyways, no, I don't rate names on their nicknames...if I really like a name, I won't want a nickname for it at all!

    Vionnet - Too French? Too....different?

I think Vionnet would make a fabulous French mn, but I think it might be a little too different as a standalone fn. Maybe Vi or Via for a nn? I'm quite a fan of more unique french middles.

Stellan for a boy... too much like Ellen/Stella? Too much teasing potential? Is it manly?

I think it would work well, but I have the problem with one of my favourites Kellan which is a little like Ellen/Kelly. I don't think it has much teasing potential.

What do you think of the Sibset Alice Genevieve and Alexia Prudence? Too matchy?

I think they're cute, it kind of depends on what they're going to be called by family and friends - if they're both nicknamed "Allie" or similar, it might be a problem. But if you just have "Alice & Lexi" or "Allie & Lexi" you can probably work around it... I don't see any other problems with it.

If you met a girl called Eliza, what would be the nickname you automatically started using for her? I'm not a big fan of Elle or Ellie but I can't help thinking that that's what she'd be called.

My instinctual nickname for Eliza is Ellie. I could totally see a little Eliza nicknamed Liza though! It is a classier alternative in my opinion.

What do you think of the spelling Fay? Do you prefer Faye?

I think Fay is lovely as it is, but that doesn't mean I'm opposed to Faye! Both are lovely, whichever spelling, but I like Fae best!

What do you think of Finch? Do you think it's too tied to the bird?

I love Finch! It's one of those oft forgotten birds (and bird names). If anything, the first thing I think it will remind people of is Atticus Finch from To Kill A Mockingbird.

What do you think of Valentine for a girl? Too masculine?

I think it could work well as a MN, for example Poppy Valentine, Honey Valentine, Rebecca Valentine are girls I've heard with that middle name, and I think it's very pretty.

Do you think Jude is overused? It's very uncommon where I live at the moment, and I haven't heard anyone called it. But I'm worried it will become popular in the next 3-5 years.
