    Aesthetics of names

I'm wondering if anyone else is drawn to names by the look of them?

I wouldn't let it influence my final choices on names, but I think that some names are just better looking than others. Generally I think I like names with letters like bdfghjklpqty that give a more complex shape, for example I think Jacqueline is a much 'prettier' looking name than Joanna.

    Anyone else thought about this?
Fave names: Astrid, Anise, Annika, Cleo, Gabrielle, Holly, Marnie, Mardi, Miranda, Miriam, Poppy, Sydney

I'm from Australia, so when I'm referring to popularity I'm using Aussie lists.

Yes. This is a big problem for me. I like the way a lot of names look, like Harper for example, But I don't like saying it out loud, (it reminds me of that Hopper commercial with the heavy Boston accents).

Yes. I really like Harriet but I dislike how it looks written on paper. It looks unfinished. Like the OP I wouldn't let it influence my name choices.

Yes, yes, yes. I think I commented recently that names with several y's in them look "pinched" to me.
Emyrsyn- looks like you are saying it with pursed lips. The poor name looks strangled.
    Emerson- open and flowing

I think I am drawn to names with (mostly) all different letters. I like Jacinta, but not Joanna on paper, but spoken out loud, it is reversed! So no, it wouldn't influence my decision by a lot either. But it's a fun topic.

I love How Eleanor looks on paper, so elegant-but it doesn't sound as elegant coming out of my mouth unfortunately.
My husband loves Leonie, which reflects his heritage, however when I see it written, all I can think is: Leon + ie lol

I love Briar and Greer for either gender. However for boys I think Brier and Grier look more masculine but I hate those spellings

Shay and Blaze would cause less pronunciation confusion but I prefer the look of Shea and Blaise

Savannah, Dolores, and Susannah look so pretty but I don't really like any them

    Shea * Ashley * Jade * Azure * Shiah * Greer * Blaise * Pallas
    Lotus * Tallulah * Noor * Fox * Jasper * Linden * Arden * Adair

I am really attracted to names with double letters, like Bennett, Juliette, Vienna, Jubilee, Odessa, etc I would use a double letter spelling if it wasn't kreatif any day over a regular spelling.
I also love longer names on paper, an with more frills to the spelling, like V's, X's, and Z's are always big hits.
And if a name can end with an H, I'll usually take the H spelling, examples of Lila/Lilah, Susanna/Susannah, Hanna/Hannah, etc I could probably think of many many more of these, I feel so picky!!!

The aesthetics of a name are a big consideration when it comes to making combos and selecting spellings and such. Usually, I will take the 'classic' or more well-known spelling. I also think that certain spellings give me certain vibes. For example, Alice vs Alyss. Although I love the 'ss' ending, I would pick Alice. I think of Alice as prim and proper, but with a sweet innocence that can be playful. I feel Alyss has a fantasy feel that is spunky and can fit that 'warrior princess' mold.
I also love 's's in names, such as Saskia or Corliss. I think that the 's' is what makes Saskia spunky and Corliss sweet.

I also take great care with how a combo looks, as well as how it sounds. Sometimes, you can say I care more about how it looks over how it sounds Example: Rose Saskia vs Saskia Rose. Rose Saskia looks better to me, but Saskia Rose flows better. As you can see from my signature, I prefer Rose Saskia XD
