I love Genevieve! I would use Evie or Eve as a nickname though, I don't like Genna/Jenna as a name or a nickname sorry. It's pretty common so I don't think it'll be too hard to figure out how to spell.

If you really love the name you shouldn't let that keep you from using it. The important people will learn to get it right.

Not true for this name, unfortunately. I know we'd have a lot of grandparents, aunts and uncles that would never consistently get it. Our last name is also difficult to spell/pronounce, so I think it all the more important to have a straight forward first name.

The names that you are thinking of are all gorgeous names, we do have sort of similar tastes. Vivienne is one of my top names as well (though in its Vivien spelling) and it is certainly a beautiful name but I do find the nickname an issue as well, Viv or Vivi don't seem to work for me but I would probably just call her V. Might not be to your taste but I understand wher you are coming from. Luciana is an equally pretty name and I don't automatically think that she is Spanish. I actually think more Italian and the name has Shakespeare cred as well. I have a friend though that has this name and she is of Vietnamese heritage and it definately works for her. I happen to like Eleanor but if you only like the nicknames and not the name I would suggest veering away from it. You should love both names in my opinion. Do you prefer the variant Eleanora? or Honora? Elinora? Also, I do like Genevieve but it wouldn't be my first pick (for some reason I always think of Guinevere). The spelling might be troublesome at the beginning but for a kid, every name is hard to spell at first. She can write her nickname first anyway and learn to spell the full name later if she wants to write her name on things. The Jenna nickname seems a bit more French in my opinion and it is fine to have a nickname with a different first letter, look at Kate Middleton, her name is actually Catherine but they don't have her going by Cate. I agree with raven1980 though that Evie could be the nickname.

Some ideas that come to mind:

Helena - means bright, shining one - nn Lena or Ella/Ellie
If the spelling of Genevieve is a sticking point, what about Geneva?
Annelise - graced with God's bounty
Aleah - high, exalted, God's being

If I were you I would rule out Genvieve- for 3 reasons-2 different pronunciations, hard spelling, and same first letter as Gabriella (which may not bug you, it bugs me for some reason I cannot really explain)

What about Vivian/Viviana? You could use the "Anna" nickname which would honor grandparent

Lucianna is lovely and while it does sound kind of Spanish/Italian to me, not more so than Gabriella. The bigger problem with it to me is that it is ambiguous in pronunciation. Is it Loo-see-on-uh or (as I would say it and the Italian pronunciation) Loo-CHI-on-uh?

What about Lucinda or Lucilla? Same meaning as Lucille but both seem a bit less exotic than Lucianna. Gabriella, Lucinda, and Zane sound lovely to me!

What about Lenora NNs Nora and Lena? Also starts with an L so maybe you could honor your grandparent Lucille by using her initials?

    Other thoughts

    Eliora (God is my light)
    Karensa (Love)
    Luisa (renowned warrior)
    Verena (integrity)
    Helena (bright, shinining one)
    Elena (same)
Junia (female apostle in the New Testament)
Liliana (Lily-symbol of peace, symbol of Christ's peace and purity)
    Camilla (flower name)
    Cecilia (saints name)
Evangeline (bringer of the good news) I love the nn Eva
    Lydia (Biblical name)
Abigail (my father is joyful, Bible name, wife of David in the OT)
    Michal/Michalla (who is like God)
    Carlotta (Free Man)
Seraphina (variant of Seraph/Seraphim- the angels that surround God's throne in Isaiah's vision of heaven)
